石应康教授，男，1951年出生于医学世家，博士研究生导师，国务院医改专家咨询委员会委员，中华医学会副会长，国务院政府特殊津贴获得者，四川省学术和技术带头人，曾任中华医学会胸心血管外科分会主任委员，中国医师协会副会长。荣获“全国先进工作者”、“卫生部有突出贡献中青年专家”、“全国优秀医院院长”等荣誉称号。
1993年 —2013年任四川大学华西临床医学院/华西医院（原华西医科大学第一临床医学院/附属第一医院）院长，为学院/医院的发展作出了卓越贡献；在担任院长的 20年时间里，学院/医院成为了中国西部疑难危急重症的国家级诊疗中心、高等医学教育的示范基地、医学科学研究和技术创新的国家级基地；在复旦大学中国最 佳医院排行榜连续多年名列第二，中国医院科技影响力排行榜连续多年名列第一，有32个专科进入国家临床重点专科建设项目，数量名列全国医院第一。作为院 长，他高瞻远瞩、锐意进取、改革创新，团结全体师生员工实现了学院/医院的跨越式发展，在中国医学界走出了一条华西之路。
