全球能源互联网，这一“改变人类命运的大棋局”能够由构想变成现实，主要得益于中国近年来在特高压研究与实践上的巨大成功。而许继集团，正是站在国际特高压制高点的顶尖企业。
从“中国制造”到“中国智造”
当PM2.5、雾霾成为国人的心头之痛时，没有人再怀疑全球能源互联网对于整个国家甚至人类的意义。
但我国特殊的能源分布，对构建能源互联网却有着天然的阻碍。我国76%的煤炭资源集中在北部和西北部、80%的水能资源集中在西南部，陆地风能和太阳能等新能源也大量分布在西北部，但70%以上的能源需求集中在中东部，供需相距800—3000公里。

特高压是目前世界上最先进的输电技术，具有远距离、大容量、低损耗、少占地的综合优势，是国际上电网领域的“珠穆朗玛峰”。长期以来，其核心技术如特高压换流阀、直流控制与保护系统等一直被ABB、西门子、阿尔斯通等国际巨头垄断。
许继集团研发中心主任周逢权介绍，一条直流工程，设备投资的近一半都要花费在直流换流阀上。这个核心技术，一直是国际巨头封锁特高压输电技术的“命门”。
“当时世界上只有两个同类实验室。做一次试验就要200万元人民币，而购买他一个产品，还要再加个零，2000万元人民币！至于花钱买技术，更是门儿都没有。”周逢权说。
市场倒逼许继集团走上了自主创新之路，市场竞争又坚定了他们自主研发的信心。从20年前的5名研发人员起步，许继集团成功研发的DPS2000直流控制与保护系统，直接导致国外同类设备价格“腰斩”；他们研制的我国首台特高压换流阀，价格仅为国外同类设备的1/10。
凭着世界一流的技术、可靠的质量和良好的品牌，许继集团如今已为世界上所有的特高压直流输电工程提供了75%的“大脑”（控制系统）、50%的“心脏”（换流阀）。
从“中国智造”到“中国引领”
5月11日下午，在位于许昌市区许继大道的国家电网许继集团特高压工程试验研究中心，一群身着白色工作服的年轻人正在做±1100千伏特高压控制保护系统的仿真测试工作。率领这个团队科研攻关的许继集团直流输电系统公司总经理张爱玲自豪地说：“这里有全球电压等级最高的设备，有世界最先进的技术，有具备完全自主知识产权的产品，这就是我们的核心竞争力。”
在特高压直流和交流输电领域，许继集团先后创造了40多项“中国第一”和20多项“世界第一”——相继研发出世界上第一套±800千伏特高压直流输电换流阀，世界上电压等级最高、额定容量最大的±1100千伏、5500安特高压直流输电换流阀，建成了世界上综合试验能力最强的换流阀运行试验系统……
自2015年下半年以来，许继集团凭借雄厚的综合实力，先后中标国家电网公司±800千伏晋北—南京、±1100千伏昌吉—古泉、渝鄂直流背靠背联网工程等19个特高压直流输电重大工程。
不久前，锡林郭勒盟至泰州±800千伏特高压直流输电工程进行核心设备的招标，许继集团的“特高压换流阀”总体解决方案击败包括国际某知名企业在内的两个竞争对手，夺下这项尖端工程。
“这说明，许继在特高压换流阀领域已领先世界发达国家。”许继集团柔性输电系统公司总经理张建说。
特高压输电技术，世界看中国。诺贝尔物理学奖获得者、美国能源部原部长朱棣文在一次演讲中指出：“中国挑战美国创新领导地位的相关领域包括：最高电压、最高输送容量的特高压交流输电。”
