知情人士5月13日向澎湃新闻（www.thepaper.cn）爆料称，5月12日上午10点45分左右，湖南大型省属国有独资企业湖南省煤业集团有限公司（以下简称“湘煤集团”）下属的金竹山矿业有限公司执行董事、党委书记李曙光在家坠楼身亡。坠楼前，李曙光发微信朋友圈称“我只能以死来证明我的清白，我不是畏罪自杀………”
澎湃新闻5月13日从金竹山矿业有限公司、李曙光亲属处证实，李曙光确实坠楼身亡。金竹山矿业公司工作人员告诉澎湃新闻，李曙光坠楼身亡的具体情况不便多说，目前当地警方和湘煤集团相关部门已经介入调查。
李曙光的亲属告诉澎湃新闻，李曙光是娄底市人大代表，于昨天（12日）中午10点45分左右在长沙家中坠楼身亡，坠亡前几日纪委对其进行连续几天的调查。

知情人士发给澎湃新闻一张名为“天山剑”的朋友圈截图写道，“我只能以死来证明我的清白，我不是畏罪自杀”，“我有多份拒贿记录在朋友手中”。
李曙光的亲属向澎湃新闻证实，“天山剑”是李曙光的微信名，上述微信内容确为李曙光坠亡前所发，发布时间大致在9点40分。
澎湃新闻查阅资料发现，李曙光微信朋友圈内容所提到的“湘煤窝案”，是此前湘煤集团包括董事长在内的多名高管被查，据不完全统计，该集团目前已有近十名高管或子公司负责人被纪委调查。
湖南省纪委今年3月3日对外通报称，湖南省煤业集团有限公司党委书记、董事长覃道雄涉嫌严重违纪，目前正接受组织调查。今年2月15日，湖南省纪委对外通报湘煤集团总经理李义成涉嫌违纪接受组织调查的消息。
据知情人士透露，目前湖南省纪委就李曙光配合调查期间坠楼身亡一事已成立调查小组介入调查。
