1 迷信“大师”，梦想升官发财
典型案例：山东省农业厅原党组副书记、副厅长单增德一心想着依靠“大师”指点升官发财，结果被一伙骗子骗得团团转。

彼时，单增德任莱芜市常务副市长，正想着要更进一步。“张新政”肯定地告诉他：给一笔钱，具体怎么办不用管，三个月内肯定让你升官！单增德居然信了，对“张新政”有求必应，结果不仅未能如愿当上市长，还被骗走180万元。

“人心不足蛇吞象”，类似单增德这样，企图靠“大师”指点升官发财的贪官不乏其人。正如一位心理学家所说，贪官迷信，大都离不开对权力和金钱的欲望。他们对权力和金钱的追求永不满足，官位是越高越好，做了小官想做大官，做了大官还想往上升；钱财是越多越好，捞了百万想千万，过了千万还想要更多……当人的欲望膨胀到不能自持而又感到难以把握的时候，对所谓“大师”顶礼膜拜就不难理解了。
从这个意义上说，贪官迷信鬼神、“大师”，其实真正崇拜的是权力，信奉的是私利。
2 腐化堕落，向鬼神求“平安”

类似边飞这样的腐败分子不在少数。辽宁省抚顺市原市长栾庆伟在接受组织调查的前几天还和一著名“大师”见面，这位“大师”信誓旦旦地告诉他：“有惊无险，没有任何问题。”分手后，“大师”还发信息告诉他：“确实没有问题，不是为了安慰你才这么说的。”栾庆伟落马后才幡然醒悟，对迷信“大师”追悔莫及，他在忏悔书中写道：“迷信就是傻子遇到骗子的结果。”
“为了规避风险，腐败分子向迷信领域寻求庇护，寄希望于‘大师’干预摆平，使自己免遭法纪的制裁，进而平安无事地混下去，直至捞取更多的钱财。”一名专家表示。迷信是表，贪腐是里，在表里之间，烧香拜佛不过是“安魂曲”。
确实如此，边飞、栾庆伟之流，对风水先生、某些“大师”的话分外上心、深信不疑；而对民生疾苦却置若罔闻，对党的纪律规矩更是不以为然，毫无敬畏，怎么能不出问题呢？
3 内心空虚，从迷信那找“安慰”
典型案例：湖南省株洲市原市委常委、政法委书记谢清纯在自认为仕途上失意之后，沉迷于迷信，企图从菩萨那里找“安慰”。
谢清纯原本还算是名学者型官员，博览群书，但自从信佛后，只看佛书，每年必到四大佛教名山拜一遍，每到所谓的观音“生日”，他必一天吃斋，甚至到后来，每天出行都要算一算，看看往什么方向走“吉利”！
他与一位“大师”打得火热。一周至少去寺庙看望一次“大师”，一待就是半天；有时实在走不开，中午吃饭，也要让人把“大师”接过来，共进午餐，顺便“请教”。渐渐地，人人都知道“大师”和谢清纯的关系，明白讨好了“大师”就是讨好了谢清纯本人。于是，一些商人时常以“香火钱”的名义“捐钱”给寺里，由“大师”代收。通过这种方式，“大师”本人也捞到不少好处。

迷信现象如同一面镜子，照出了谢清纯失衡乃至畸形的精神世界。他对“菩萨”和“大师”的敬仰和信任，背后包藏的是一颗忐忑不安的贪欲之心，无外乎是把所谓的“菩萨”和“大师”当成一种心理安慰。
落马的腐败分子中，这样的例子不在少数。广东省纪委查处的一名厅级干部，信念丧失，内心空虚，在家里布置了风水局，常年供着观音，收集供奉舍利子，每天念咒诵经吃斋拜佛，晚上还要打坐两个小时。此人把自己“落马”的原因归结为祖坟出了问题，写信让家里人赶紧请“大师”化解；又让妻子将供奉的舍利子赶快送给别人，说“自己德行不够，供奉不了”。
辽宁省沈阳医学院奉天医院原院长冯虹，享受国务院特殊津贴，曾是全国人大代表。就是这样一个在人代会上大讲特讲为人民服务的医疗专家，家中客厅及卧室的显眼位置，竟供奉着佛像、摆放着宗教用品和算命书籍。在她家房门的上方，还粘贴着特意从外地“请”来的符咒。
“这些落马官员看似笃信风水和宗教，其实他们什么都不信，他们既没有信仰也没有敬畏，心里装的只有金钱和私欲。所以才对于佛家所摒弃的酒色财气等身外之物充满欲望，搞起腐败来，一点也不含糊。”一名专家说。
共产党人的根本，就是对马克思主义的信仰，对共产主义和社会主义的信念，对党和人民的忠诚。很难想象，一个有着远大理想、坚定信念的干部，会践踏纪律、大搞腐败。
理想信念动摇是最危险的动摇，理想信念滑坡是最危险的滑坡。一旦理想信念这个“总开关”出了问题，荒诞不经、乌七八糟的东西就会乘虚而入，什么怪事都有可能发生。
