晶体最基本的特征是周期规律性,即组成晶体的原子、离子或分子在空间中按一定的规律周期重复地排列。生长良好的晶体,外观上往往呈现某种对称性。如果整个晶体中的质点在空间的排列长程有序,则是单晶。多晶是众多取向的单晶的集合。

科研工作者为了更好地观察晶体的微观结构,依照晶体的理化性质设计制造了各种各样的显微镜,如:(1)荧光显微镜,它以紫外线为光源照射被检物体,使之发出荧光,最后在显微镜下观察物体的形状及其所在位置;(2)倒置荧光显微镜,它由荧光附件与倒置显微镜有机结合构成;(3)偏光显微镜,它能够清楚分辨双折射物质(如球晶)……Nikon、Olympus等显微镜厂商生产的显微镜深受大家喜爱。
