2016年5月21日，外交部长王毅在阿拉木图接受中哈媒体采访时表示，两年多来，“一带一路”建设起步顺利，开局良好，取得一重要早期收获。
王毅表示，“丝绸之路经济带”倡议正是习近平主席在哈萨克斯坦提出的，之后习主席又在东南亚提出了建设“21世纪海上丝绸之路”。“一带一路”的提出，顺应亚欧各国人民谋发展、求合作的共同愿望，符合世界发展进步的潮流，既是中国在新的历史条件下实行全方位对外开放的重大举措，也是中国面向亚欧大陆提供的最重要公共产品。“一带一路”建设重要早期收获概括起来有：
一是国际共识日益增多。已有70多个国家和组织表达了支持和参与，超出了传统的“一带一路”范围，真正形成了具有广泛影响的国际合作框架。同时34个国家和国际组织与中国签署了共建“一带一路”政府间合作协议，在此基础上，还将进一步形成具体的合作规划。上个月，我代表中国外交部与联合国亚太经社会签署合作意向书，就具有重要象征意义。
二是金融支撑机制开始发挥作用。亚洲基础设施投资银行今年初开业运营。丝路基金首批投资项目正式启动。沿线国家积极探讨建立或扩充各类双多边合作基金，金融合作正在迅速展开，为重点项目建设提供了强有力支持。
三是互联互通网络逐步成型。互联互通是建设“一带一路”的基础性工程，把欧亚大陆的陆、海、空、网连接起来，从而为彼此合作创造更好条件。目前，匈塞铁路、雅万高铁陆续开工，中老、中泰等泛亚铁路网开始启动，一批高速公路建设正在推进。与此同时，海上互联互通蓄势待发，刚刚在香港召开的“一带一路”高峰论坛，十分成功，反响热烈。
四是产能合作加快推进。中国已与20个国家签署了协议，开展机制化的产能合作，一大批重点项目在各国落地生根。截至目前，中方设立的各类多双边产能合作基金已超过1000亿美元。中哈是国际产能合作的先行者，目前已形成52个早期收获项目，总投资270亿美元，尤其是开创了国际产能合作模式，发挥着重要的示范效应。
五是经济走廊建设取得重要进展。中蒙俄三方已就建设经济走廊达成共识，正抓紧编制规划纲要。中巴经济走廊起步早，进展快，已实质性启动一批重大项目建设。新亚欧大陆桥经济走廊、孟中印缅经济走廊的建设也在稳步向前推进。
六是中欧班列品牌业已形成。中欧班列迄今已成功开行1500多列。仅去年一年中欧班列就开行815列，是2014年的2.7倍。国内开行城市已达10个，到达沿线国家7个，常态化运输机制开始形成。这对拉动沿线国家经济发展、贸易往来将发挥越来越重要的作用。
七是贸易投资大幅增长。“一带一路”沿线国家大多处于工业化、城市化的重要阶段，“一带一路”倡议实施以来，区域贸易和投资增长迅猛，年均增速高于全球平均水平近一倍。2015年，中国企业对“一带一路”相关的49个国家开展了直接投资，投资额共计150亿美元。沿线各国都在努力提升贸易投资便利化水平，探讨各种类型的自贸区或一体化进程。
八是人文交流更加密切。我们设立了丝绸之路中国政府奖学金，与沿线国家互办文化年、艺术节，实施“丝绸之路影视桥工程”和“丝路书香工程”，“一带一路”人文合作取得了积极成果。丝绸之路联合申遗取得成功，海上丝绸之路联合申遗业已启动。
王毅强调指出，下一步，中方将继续本着“共商、共建、共享”的原则，把中国发展与沿线国家发展更紧密地结合起来，让“一带一路”建设成果更多造福各国人民。
