清华大学台湾研究所副所长巫永平说，大陆方面说得很清楚，过去那么多年两岸关系取得的成果都是建立在“九二共识”的基础上，没有“九二共识”未来两岸关系就无法继续发展。如果台湾当局新领导人不回到“九二共识”的基础上，未来两岸关系必将面临一系列挑战。
“若想维持两岸现状需确认一中原则”
专家认为，如果想维持两岸现状，确保两岸现有制度化交往机制和两岸关系和平发展成果，台湾当局新领导人需要与大陆方面确认体现一中原则的共同政治基础。

“这样的严重后果只能由改变现状的人承担。”曹小衡说，两岸关系能不能往前推进，关键是看此次就职演说后，台湾当局新领导人会不会有进一步的表态，以及实际的行动。
巫永平认为，对于台湾当局新领导人，我们需听其言、观其行，密切关注她今后的道路选择。不同的道路选择决定不同的前景，两岸关系是继续走和平发展之路，还是重蹈挑起台海紧张动荡的覆辙，“球在她的脚下”。
