十大谣言均经过专家评审得出。网络传播率较高的10个谣言包括"内蒙古风电偷走了北京大风导致雾霾"、"雾霾不散是因为\'核污染\'"等，其中，备受关注的"机动车污染不是北京空气污染的主要原因"也入选十大谣言之一。
针对该谣言，市环保局专家介绍，2014年4月，北京市环保局正式发布了北京市PM2.5来源解析最新研究成果。在本地污染贡献中，机动车排放占31.1%，位列第一。
