这五家PC制造商的笔记本在出厂时均预装自家的软件更新工具，而这些工具无一例外都存在至少一个重大安全漏洞，这些漏洞可以被黑客轻松利用。Duo Labs表示，PC制造商在出厂时通常都会预装一些自家的软件，许多用户平时很少用到，同时厂商对这类软件的更新也不是十分及时。这就为黑客的入侵创造了一个薄弱环节，甚至不需要太复杂的过程就能对用户的电脑造成损害。

目前Duo Labs已经通知了各家制造商，惠普已经修复了漏洞，而联想也将发布一个软件更新，戴尔在报告发布之前就发布了相关补丁，而宏碁、华硕暂未做出任何回应。
