针对此次的恶意砍人事件，长沙警方在官微称，砍伤电竞选手马玺清的滴滴司机已被长沙警方拘留。警方在公告中称，事发后民警第一时间赶到医院了解伤者情况，并赶赴案发现场，通过走访调查、调阅视频等工作，锁定了砍人后逃跑的嫌疑人李勇（男，22岁，湖南醴陵人），并全力开展嫌疑人抓捕工作。迫于警方压力，6月4日下午14时30分许，嫌疑人李勇来到金盆岭派出所投案自首。
