其实对于没有玩过魔兽世界（World Of Warcraft）或魔兽争霸（Warcraft）的人来说，要完全看懂这部电影肯定会有一定的难度。即使对玩过游戏的人来说也有一定的难度，因为国内玩的魔兽争霸几乎都是从Warcraft3:Frozen Throne也就是冰封王座开始的，WOW的背景更是在冰封王座之后，而第一部《魔兽》电影中的故事发生在Warcraft: Orcs and Humans的背景下，电影中的人物很多都是“传说中”的英雄，所以对于没有看过魔兽正史或小说的玩家其实理解起来也是有难度的。
利益相关：从04年开始近10年游戏史的WOWer和Warcrafter，因为买了零点场IMAX巨幕，老婆白天要上班也要陪我去看，所以特意复习并整理了一下与电影有关的背景知识，顺便贴出来，让大家能尽情欣赏创作人员打造出来的艾泽拉斯，而不是去绞尽脑汁的想这个人是谁，和那个人有什么关系。以下梳理的内容只限与电影有关的背景，由于本人也没看过电影正片，所以不存在所谓的剧透，所有情节来源于魔兽的官方小说，图片来源于网络。没耐心看的可以不看前五段。
写这个回答的原则是：尽可能用较短的篇幅交代清楚电影所在的时代背景以及片中人物的关系，无关的种族和情节尽量缩减。但水平有限，将就着看吧，加粗的留意。

一、宇宙与泰坦

艾萨拉女王堕入大海成为纳迦；伊利丹想继续学习魔法，将私藏的永恒之井井水倒入海加尔山的湖中产生第二座永恒之井，被玛法里奥逮捕并囚禁了一万年；巨龙在新的永恒之井种下世界之树诺达希尔；部分热衷魔法的高等精灵在达斯雷玛·逐日者带领下偷渡至东部王国北部成立魔法王国奎尔萨拉斯并利用永恒之井井水建立太阳之井，并自称高等精灵。
