6月15日消息，华为周二宣布在法国设立数学研究所，拥有研究人员超80人，全部为博士及以上学历，成为其加强基础科学研究的又一重要举措。
华为法国数学研发中心位于法国92省布洛涅市，旨在挖掘法国基础数学资源，致力于通信物理层、网络层、分布式并行计算、数据压缩存储等基础算法研究，长期聚焦5G等战略项目和短期产品，完成分布式算法全局架构设计等。目前，华为在全球建立了16个研究所，其中法国研究所下设设计、数字图像处理、数学和家庭终端等4个研究中心。
此前华为曾在俄罗斯设立首个数学研究所，并在3G和2G在算法层面带来了突破。
任正非不久前曾表示，华为现在的水平尚停留在工程教学、物理算法等工程科学的创新层面，尚未真正进入基础理论研究。随着逐步逼近香农定理、摩尔定律的极限，而对大流量、低时延的理论还未创造出来，华为已感到前途茫茫、找不到方向。华为已前进在迷航中。重大创新是无人区的生存法则，没有理论突破，没有技术突破，没有大量的技术积累，是不可能产生爆发性创新的。
