当时，美团向记者回应称，“这种说法是概念混淆，美团网并没有单独为美团平台以外的任何第三方提供支付结算业务。”
美团和举报者曾就就美团的经营行为算不算第三方支付，有没有违反支付服务管理办法等问题进行了争论，双方各执一词。
