“最近气温升高，学生和家长发现新校区的操场有很大异味。有家长反映孩子咳嗽，流鼻血，多名女生几个月不来例假等问题。家长们认为是操场环境问题影响了孩子健康。” 杭州外国语学校的学生家长刘华（化名）告诉《财经》记者。
不同于近日多起“毒跑道”事件，杭州外国语学校出问题的是人造草坪。6月7日，华东理工大学运动场地合成材料检测中心出具的检测报告显示，学校人造草坪的苯、甲苯和二甲苯等超标，其中“甲苯和二甲苯”一项指标，测定值达到733.8mg／kg，超出50mg／kg的限量值十几倍。
上述污染物具有挥发性，会刺激人的皮肤、黏膜等，引起眼部和呼吸道不适。高浓度时还会麻醉中枢神经系统，导致头晕、恶心和胸闷等多种症状。其中苯的危害性最大，长时间接触有可能造成贫血甚至白血病。
据学校官网介绍，杭州外国语学校是我国首批重点建设的外国语学校，全国17所著名外国语学校之一，也是浙江省教育厅直属的重点中学。
刘华称，学校近几年缩减招生数量，原来的校园太大了，就给了浙江外国语学院，后者负责建新校区给前者。
学校原计划去年搬迁，因环境问题而拖到今年。根据学校网站2015年8月5日公告，新校建成后，第三方环境检测机构对室内环境进行了检测，因部分区域的个别指标 “与标准仍有偏差”，故推迟一个学期搬迁新校。
杭州外国语学校在今年年初刚迁到小和山下的新校区。但推迟搬迁并没有从根本上解决校园环境问题。
刘华怀疑，问题就出在人工草坪使用的胶粘剂上。他向《财经》记者出示了一份据说是施工前，针对人造草坪材料的一份测试报告。报告显示材料各项指标都合格。“但是胶粘剂是施工方提供的。”刘华说。
记者就此事向该报告受检单位北京火炬生地人造草坪有限公司核实，负责公司浙江地区业务的工作人员表示，杭州外国语学校的人工草坪材料确实是从他们公司采购的。“但用于人工草坪建设的石英砂、胶水和黑胶粒三种材料，不是来自我们公司，可能是施工方自行采购的。我认为除了胶水，在黑颗粒上出问题的可能性更大。”他说到。
人工草坪铺装完成后，需要填撒石英砂和黑胶粒。黑胶粒起到缓冲震动，防止滑倒擦伤等保护作用。有媒体报道，现在大多使用回收颗粒，如旧轮胎打碎的颗粒，环保廉价。正规厂家会查明回收来源，并进行质量检测，避免使用有毒、劣质的黑胶粒。但也不排除有些厂家使用劣质颗粒的可能。
6月15日校方曾给家长群发短信，没有说明人工草坪为何散发异味，只是说学校已采取停用操场、喷水降温和异味监测等措施，省教育厅和校方正研究处置方案。
家长们则要求校方铲除塑胶操场或转移学生。他们写了致省教育厅的请愿书，正在号召更多家长在请愿书上签名。
学校地处杭州市西湖区，该区环保分局书记、副局长常自力称，没有人跟他反映过学校操场的问题，对于此事他并不知情。他同时强调，学校操场建成前后都不需要环保局进行环境检测，因为没有相关规定。
杭州外国语学校的校办工作人员回复《财经》记者，称学校刚经过研究决定，将尽快铲除问题草坪。
