近几年日本动画制作也在积极的吸引日本以外地区的公司来投资,包括中国在内的亚洲其他国家以及美国的一些跨国公司都在积极加入到日本动画制作当中。在90年代全世界对于日本的国家印象就是丰田汽车和各种物美价廉的小家电,而现在全世界各国对于日本国家的印象可能已经变为了各种日本动画,日本动画在全世界市场的人气是有目共睹的,然而高人气不代表日本动画在世界市场能够获得高收入。

相较于美国迪士尼、梦工厂的动画电影,日本国产动画在海外难以大规模上映,2014年日本动画海外市场规模只有3265亿日元,而同期的迪士尼动画市场规模则有5兆日元,如何将超高的人气在海外市场转换为货真价实的经济收入是日本动画现在面临的最大课题。
