据韩国《中央日报》网站6月20日报道,根据白皮书内容,BDS从2012年开始被应用到中国大陆和周围部分亚太地区,它的起步不仅比美国的GPS晚了20多年,还大幅落后于俄罗斯的格洛纳斯系统。中国之所以推动自主开发卫星导航系统,是因为它与追踪位置信息以及军事、安全方面的需求存在直接关联。

中国将2020年定为BDS全球化的元年。目前中国共利用23台卫星运营BDS,其服务已经出口到韩国等30多个国家。BDS白皮书中写道“计划2018年,面向“一带一路”沿线及周边国家提供基本服务;2020年前后,完成35颗卫星发射组网,为全球用户提供服务”。也就是说,届时全世界的智能手机都将可以搭载BSD,将与GPS展开激烈竞争。
