一位经济学家对《环球时报》表示，可以假设的是：人民币下跌的话，兑换美元，需要支付更多;但英镑也在跌，那么，再换成英镑，又相当于人民币减少了。说是中国学生去英国留学费用减少，则是假设英镑下跌的幅度远远大于人民币下跌的幅度。但是，如果脱欧成功，英镑短期内也许会大幅度下跌，但中长期肯定不会，应为英国经济走好。“也就是说，如果英镑短期内大幅度下跌，且人民币跌幅小于英镑的(理论上，应该小于)，那么，留学有利。但是，这很可能是很短的。”
