和蒋尊玉从1989年相识结交
据悉，李卫平生于1958年10月，山东人，是深圳航港高尔夫球娱乐有限公司总经理。2014年11月13日李卫平被纪委带走调查，2015年2月16日批捕。
据李卫平当庭供述，他与蒋尊玉相识于1989年。当时李卫平从部队转业，调入深圳机场，参与筹备工作。而蒋尊玉担任深圳机场建设领导小组办公室科长。尽管后来蒋尊玉的工作不断调动，但他们之间的交情持续至今。

李卫平还否认支付蒋丹丹的留学费或者生活费，只承认蒋丹丹结婚的时候他送了黄金，用公司账户上的自有资金大约98万元，让财务帮忙购买的。“我记得金条是用布袋装着的，我就说是送给蒋丹丹出嫁的礼物，不知道他（蒋尊玉）知道不知道。”
不过，蒋丹丹的双胞胎百日宴时，李卫平又送了两个巨额红包给蒋尊玉的前妻和女儿蒋丹丹，一共20万元港币。蒋尊玉的外甥女结婚时，李卫平又拿了个红包给了他这个外甥女的母亲，里面有7万元港币。李卫平称没跟蒋尊玉讲过这个事。
蒋丹丹证言称，李卫平除了送6根金条，还送过一枚钻石戒指。此外，李卫平还购买蒋尊玉家收受行贿人所得的保时捷小汽车，这台车后来就过户给了李卫平的儿媳妇，李卫平支付的款项比实际价格要高数十万。
李卫平的辩护律师认为，即便不计算两家正常的人情往来，在计算行贿额度时，也应扣除蒋家赠送给李家的财物。并称在两家交往的20余年间，蒋家给李家子女、老人的红包，以及给李卫平夫人的珠宝等，价值亦数以百万计。
