柳传志谈到最近的英国脱离欧盟、美国大选的戏剧性变化，让世界格局产生了巨大的不确定性。他认为，企业家在创业过程中，最害怕的就是不确定性。从国家层面而言，国家之间比较的是经济实力的强弱，即使是军事也是以经济为基础的，而经济的强弱比较的是企业的强弱，企业的强弱实际是企业的创新能力，还有国家年轻人的创新创业能力。因此创新创业不是一句口号，而是强国富民必须要走的道路。
柳传志回顾中国历史发展，朝代的更迭从繁荣到衰败，循环往复，毫无新意直到西方蒸汽机的出现、电力的发明，国外的创新反而推动了中国这潭死水，形成了政治体制的改革，世界格局的变化。约40年前，PC机的产生对世界的各大行业信息化的建设的巨大推动，是推动今天互联网、移动互联网的蓬勃发展，这使得人们的生活、工作，整个社会都受到了极大的推动。这是创新带来的力量。
对于目前移动互联网的发展，柳传志表示，这只是一个开始。人工智能、生物工程以及其他硬件的变化与互联风的结合，会将社会变成什么样，这是不确定的。未来谁是行业领先者谁是落后者，都不确定。但可以确定的是，这样的事情将会很快发生。
柳传志认为，无论是创业者还是企业家大家都处在一个拐点急速上升期。周边环境的变化要让企业家严肃考虑一个问题：这些变化跟我有什么关系，我要如何应对这样的变化。回忆起自己当初创业时所面临的环境，柳传志说，当年自己对于什么是企业、什么是市场经济一概不知，而今天的创业者们面临的环境完全不一样了。国家政府对创业创新非常支持，否则20、30年前被称为“骗子一条街”“倒爷一条街”的中关村不会变成今天这样。
