在国外生活的5年多时间，魏畅没有忘记自己儿时的梦想，一直关注着联合国的全球招聘信息，“我一年之内投了58次简历，总共进行了三轮面试。”她说，事实上，自己在面试前心里并没有底，因为她只是一个本科生，而能进入联合国工作的绝大部分人是研究生和博士生。

“我不是学霸，只是一个爱时尚的重庆妹。”在她看来，一个优秀的新时代女性，需要内外兼修，但相对于其他每天都抱着课本“啃”的学生而言，自己对新鲜的事物更感兴趣，每次考试能保持在前十名就OK。在美国高中阶段也不死读书，不但参加了校游泳队，也讲究学习效率，并通过AP考试帮助自己在大学期间提前一年毕业。
魏畅说，自己对身材和打扮都有较高要求。在英国实习期间还参加了“珍珠小姐”的选美比赛筹资帮助亚裔贫困儿童，也参加过一些化妆课程的培训，如今每次出席会议前都会配上适合的淡妆，让自己待人接物和仪表妆容上显得更加得体。面对美食诱惑，她也会为了身材去运动去掉多余的热量，“运动能给我带来正能量和好身材，与心仪的时装给我带来更多的自信。”
