据中国驻里约热内卢总领馆官方微博8月9日早上发布的消息，中国驻巴西使领馆宋扬总领事8月8日再次致电里约奥组委公共关系主任阿杰玛大使，催询颁奖仪式上中国国旗错误问题解决进展。

而在国内，制作国旗的厂家基本为政府指定的企业。根据2014年上海市人民政府公布的《关于规范国旗制作发行和加强国旗使用管理的通知》规定，“指定上海旗帜加工厂为国旗制作企业，由省技术监督局颁发《国旗制作定点证书》。定点企业凭证到其所在地工商行政管理部门登记注册，核准经营范围。其他企业一律不得从事国旗生产制作。”
同时，指定省内各新华书店为国旗发行单位，由县以上新闻出版管理部门颁发《国旗定点发行证》，有关发行单位凭证到其所在地工商行政管理部门登记注册，核准经营范围。从2014年2月20日起，无国旗定点发行证的单位，一律不得从事国旗经销发行业务。省外生产的国旗，须经省级以上技术监督部门考核认可的国旗质检机构抽检合格，才能在该省指定发行单位销售发行。
此前，广东省也公布了类似规定。
