事发时，男子的爷爷奶奶来他的房间商量一起回湖南老家，并开始帮他收拾衣服，同时将网线拔掉把电脑打包。没想到，男子见状后趁爷爷不注意，跑出去从4楼直接跳下。

警方称，该男子头和颈椎触地，落地后就不能动弹了，后被紧急送往两江新区第一人民医院抢救，但最终不治身亡。
