·信号问题。司机怎么知道后面有巴铁正在靠近?如果交通停滞,他们选择了错误的时机打开车门,那会怎么样?如果他们在正常开车过程中想变道,那又怎么办?

·转弯问题。巴铁对一般车辆转弯有什么影响?如果被巴铁的侧面挡住,你就转不了弯。

巴铁的实用性还有一些其他方面的问题:

·车厢过高。据《环球时报》报道,上海同济大学铁路专家孙章指出,巴铁高度为4.5米,很有可能和一些立交桥发生碰撞,

·电动轨道裸露在外。“巴铁需要至少1500伏特的高压电力,”有16年经验的铁路工程师王林(音)留言说,“1500伏的电动轨道裸露在外,相当于一颗定时炸弹。把电动轨道铺设在路上是一种非常落后的技术,是1890年代大家刚刚用上电的时候的技术。”

·成本。每架巴铁成本约为450万美元,这样的经济性受到了一些人的质疑。改造基础设施(比如需要提升一些立交桥的高度)需要动用城市建设资金。采用更简单的解决方案岂不是更好吗?霍吉特认为,就算要修建巴铁也应该选在那些交通系统尚不发达的地方,比如乌鲁木齐。
