说了这么多，究竟是谁出于什么原因，暂存了魏鹏远的问题线索，这还有待于官方的权威信息。值得注意的是，媒体报道显示，魏鹏远、许永盛、郝卫平、梁波案都是检方或公安机关直接采取监视居住等措施，纪检部门没有介入。
令人欣慰的是，即便是有人故意为之，魏鹏远仍旧被押上审判席，去年底庭审时，他原来乌黑的头发已两鬓斑白，法庭辩论阶段虽然没有对检方指控提出异议，可他仍辩解说，其犯罪行为没有给国家和人民利益造成特别重大的损失。
最后陈述时，魏鹏远认罪服法，服从判决，“站在法庭上，我既惭愧又后悔，愧悔交加。作为党员，没有为党尽忠，没有为党争脸；作为父亲，没有给孩子树立好的榜样，愧对孩子。后悔没有珍惜稳定的工作，小康的生活。后悔一次又一次受贪欲的支配，而不自制。钱财没让我心安理得，反而让我罪孽深重。从被抓至今，我一直在既愧又悔中度过”。
