就业机会增加 趋向长效机制
中国国际问题研究院常务副院长阮宗泽强调，不同于G7，G20由于有众多新兴经济体、发展中国家以及欧盟的加入，在拓展大宗商品市场的需求、理顺供需关系方面，显然具有更切实的推动力。市场需求的增大，对于老百姓而言，就有可能带来劳动岗位和就业机会的增加。
在阮宗泽看来，于金融危机之中“临危受命”成立的G20，一直受困于自身的身份认同窘境——在世界经济已经摆脱“危机”的当下，G20唯有变成长效的工作机制，方能继续发挥其独特的经济效能，才有可能更持续地出现利于百姓的市场效应。而G20是否能向长效机制方向发展，体现了本次杭州峰会的重要性。
人民币地位提升 惠及百姓生活
中国人民大学重阳金融研究院执行院长王文称，在国际金融体系里，如果人民币的价值和稳定性得不到国际社会的“认可”，百姓出国旅游时用人民币进行汇兑会带来不可避免的损失；又如，美联储多次宣布加息，但均系“佯攻”，结果是增加了全球对美国加息的预期，进而对全球金融市场造成冲击，增加了不稳定因素。
王文认为，上述问题可通过G20的会议进行宏观政策层面的协调，本次杭州峰会就是一个十分合适的契机。通过主场举办G20峰会，可以协调全球宏观金融政策，对中国金融安全十分有意义。从官方层面看，可以建立包括全球金融安全网在内的对资本流向、外汇储备进行监管和协调的机制，减少金融市场震荡的隐患；从百姓层面上看，避免了实际收入和出游购物受到影响。
场馆未新建 古迹旧貌换新颜
据杭州市委书记赵一德介绍，杭州在全面完成G20主会场、B20主会场，中外领导人驻地以及其他相关场地的改造过程中，并未专门新建场馆，而是根据需要做了提升，大大节约了纳税人成本。
此外，一系列的维护措施也使许多古迹“旧貌换新颜”。西湖区138年历史的古刹弥陀寺，寺内极具历史鉴赏价值的珍贵摩崖石刻遭风雨侵蚀和苔藓覆盖，周边居民乱搭乱建致使该地区变成“棚户区”，不仅不利于文物保护，也带来诸多安全隐患。经过综合整治和修缮，弥陀寺“重见天日”，以其为中心还形成了含7900平方米绿化景观、免费开放的文化休闲公园。

赵一德表示，按照中国国务院的要求，杭州对清洁能源汽车和电动汽车不限购、不限行，以鼓励市民使用电动汽车。到目前为止，全市投入了22131辆新能源汽车、1500辆新能源公交车，还投入了500辆纯电动汽车。
数据显示，杭州今年上半年PM2.5天气达标天数142天，同比增长了13天，达标率78%，提高了6.7%。
G20杭州峰会为城市景观亮化工程提供了良好的机遇。工程除了突出了西湖的淡雅、运河的广阔以及钱塘江的奔放外，还对一些主要街道和小巷进行了改善灯光的工程。这一系列实惠实在的民生工程获得广大杭州市民的一致好评和称赞。
