8月20日，选址在张家界大峡谷风景区栗树垭和吴王坡区域内的玻璃桥经过验收后投入试运行。12天时间内，世界各地游客蜂涌而至，争相体验这座世界最高、最长的玻璃桥。但由于玻璃桥每天限量接待游客8000人，远远不能满足大量游客游览需求，以致出现游客购票紧张等局面。
按照张家界市、慈利县两级党委、政府的决定和部署，张家界大峡谷景区决定将玻璃桥暂停试运行，并针对薄弱环节集中“火力”抓好相关的配套软硬件建设，完善相关管理机制。在此期间，大峡谷景区也暂停营业。
大峡谷景区方表示，玻璃桥在建设期间没有经验可借鉴，通过不断攻艰克难终于取得成功。同样，在玻璃桥的运行管理上，景区也需要不断的磨合和完善，暂停试运行是为了更好地接待游客，提高游客游览的舒适度。
据悉，大峡谷玻璃桥长430米、宽6米，桥面铺设了99块三层叠加而成的钢化玻璃，厚度仅0.6米，创造了世界最长、世界最高、世界首座玻璃作为主受力结构的大型桥梁等多项“世界之最”。由于桥面容量承载有限，试运行期间，全天最高接待不超过8000人，单次上桥最大容量不超过600人，游客在桥面逗留体验时间也随之受限。（完）
