据美国网络媒体BuzzFeed报道，周五，Facebook的热门话题又出现了令人吃惊的内容。显然有媒体或者作者炮制了一个阴谋论，号称2001年的911恐怖袭击，纽约世贸双塔遭遇了炸弹袭击，双塔倒下并不是因为飞机撞击。

目前还不清楚热门话题中出现这一内容，到底是聚合算法的原因，还是人工编辑的失误。媒体称，上述炸弹的说法显然是一个恶作剧，但是骗过了Facebook后台的筛选机制。

Facebook此举引发了争议，随后该公司宣布，将彻底取消“911纪念”这一话题。

Facebook承认相关产品出现了问题，并表示正在解决后台的问题。

美国媒体指出，这是Facebook另外一个尴尬的时刻。虽然Facebook的热点话题本身并不报道新闻，但是通过选取热点新闻，能够影响美国国内舆论，上述的“炸弹袭击阴谋论”显然会误导公众。

据报道，最初Facebook这一热点话题功能，由一些人工编辑负责编排，这些编辑都有着严格的新闻职业训练。

然而五月份，Facebook这一产品引发了巨大争议。美国共和党等人士指责，Facebook有意打压保守派的新闻和观点，丧失了客观公正。美国媒体也爆料称，Facebook内部的确存在人为操纵热点新闻的问题，比如一些没有热度的新闻被强行推到了首页。

面对外界的指责，Facebook宣布将由机器算法来聚合热点新闻的内容，以避免操控新闻的嫌疑。
