  中国无机材料科学技术的奠基人和开拓者之一、中国科学院中国工程院资深院士、中国科学院上海硅酸盐研究所名誉所长严东生先生,于2016年9月18日5时56分因病在上海逝世,享年98岁。


  严东生先生是中国先进无机材料科学与工程学科的奠基人,被国际无机材料科学界誉为最有影响的学术领导人之一。1950年他排除万难回到祖国,把毕生精力献给了祖国的科技事业。严东生先生致力于材料科学与工程研究,在高温结构陶瓷、陶瓷基复合材料、人工晶体、特种无机涂层等研究领域取得了丰硕成果。


  他直接参与1956年中国第一个12年科学技术长远发展规划、1962年由周恩来总理主持的《1963-1972十年科技规划》的起草,为中国材料科学的发展拟定了方向;在高温陶瓷制备方法、陶瓷制备热力学与动力学、材料设计与微观调控以及陶瓷基复合材料的研究等诸方面做出了开创性的工作;组织研制的碳纤维补强石英复合材料成功地应用于中国第一代战略导弹关键部位,并推广应用于各类航天器,为国防建设做出了重大的贡献;组织研制大尺寸闪烁晶体,为中国在国际高能物理和晶体研究领域赢得了崇高的声誉;在科技体制改革方面,1984年,向党中央、中国国务院提出“关于中国科学院科技体制改革的汇报提纲”,使中国科学院的改革迈出了重要一步;造就和培育了大批材料与工程科学的杰出人才。


  严东生简介:中国共产党优秀党员,九三学社社员,中国著名材料科学家、战略科学家、教育家,中国共产党第十一届中央纪律检查委员会委员,第十二届中央委员会委员,第六、七届全国政协常委,第六、七届上海市政协副主席,中国科学院原党组书记、副院长,中国科学院、中国工程院资深院士,中国科学院特邀顾问,中国科学院上海硅酸盐研究所名誉所长。
