Changsha metal 3D print for students making racing, speed of 130 km-3D printing, college students-IT information
Changsha University a group of "tech man" and "woman and man", they are self-financing, self-management, self-pressurized, working overtime just dig out the "3D metal printing-racing"--FNX-16, war for 2016 China formula student competition. According to public information, metal 3D printing as a concept car in China for the first. Today, Changsha University of specially organized for them a new car launches.
Crank out the country's first metal 3D printed concept car
"H-" 4 o'clock in the afternoon today, at jinpen Ridge campus of Polytechnic University sports ground on the runway, about 200 kilograms of FNX-16 around and make a high-speed bypass, measured at about 130 kilometers per hour, driving attitude stabilization, controlled agility. Racing and drifting, sometimes accelerating, attracted a large number of students watched, we cheer in unison. This is the first "3D metal printing-racing" in Changsha University-FNX-16 first, it is about going to war for 2016 China formula student competition.
"About 3 years ago, Motorsport, China introduced the concept of 3D printing of polymer materials, and today we made the first metal 3D printing for concept cars, these metal 3D printing parts stronger, more stable, more expensive, for me the most important thing is making more difficult. "Racing team leader Zhao Shusheng talks about the process of creation of this car. Changsha University of more than five, more than 300 college students before and after the relay for five years, to create a "FNX series" College formula, until September 18, 2016 is already the 5th "FNX-16" race. The car began its development in the last year, until this summer at the end of basic training. In the research phase, there are many students as early as eight o'clock at night. Funding, school funding is not enough, Zhao Shusheng and founder of some free from home took tens of thousands of Yuan, a leading 3D printing companies become sponsors, funded a team of more than 200,000 yuan.
From the learning-by-doing, and from design to manufacturing to adjust everything bought thousands of parts. Boys were sleepy sleep garage, no money himself chipped in to buy parts, summer school to process ... ...
Zhao Shucheng recalled that in order to debug engine, importuning they find a sponsor site, took a bus two hours to plant in the heat of summer, Dawn went out, came back a sky full of stars.
Today's students, tomorrow's China manufacturing 2025
Even more difficult is the metal 3D printing. 3D printing parts of a metal to tens of thousands of Yuan. Sponsored manufacturers just produce, design must be done by the students. For example to make a suspension post, rework 5 times. Instructor Yuan Xiang, manufacturers engineer Tang Gong, who, under the guidance of team redesigned, changed, matches, took a summer vacation, and finally the suspension system of pillars, rocker manufactured metal 3D printing methods, such as, and are the most advanced SLS-selective laser sintering technology, all parts fit together perfectly, works excellent.
"Including the intake manifold, wheels, steering wheels, aerodynamics, and many other components are used in 3D printing. The auto industry of the future will be better use of 3D printing technologies. "Team member Wang Hui said," If the mechanical production methods, lot to make a lot of small parts to different molds, machine tools. Using 3D printing technology, only on software modeling, import into the printer, and can print the entire sport system. ”
Formula student competition of China stipulates that vehicles must use four-stroke gasoline engine displacement up to 610cc, therefore, FNX-16 powered by a 600CC motorcycle engine. In order to make the racing better, team into power, suspension, bodywork and other groups, tried to make the cars more lightweight, stronger and more manipulative. At present, FNX-16 is only about 200 kilograms of weight, posture is much more stable than the previous version.
