近日有媒体报道称京东集团CEO刘强东先生承诺捐赠格莱珉中国100万美元，但事后并未落实之事。京东集团表示：
1、京东于2014年12月与格莱珉达成战略合作意向，与格莱珉小微金融模式共同探讨创造一个适合于中国农村的金融服务样本。在双方商讨过程中，京东表示在符合中国相关法律法规的前提下，刘强东先生可以以个人捐款方式支持格莱珉银行在中国的项目落地。但由于格莱珉中国执行团队尚未解决其在中国NGO和小额贷款相关法律资质手续，导致捐款无法落实。期间，京东与格莱珉中国方面一直保持着沟通。
2、根据中国相关法律规定，在公益事业捐赠中，接受捐赠的只能是依法成立的公益性社会团体和公益性非营利的事业单位，但格莱珉中国的NGO资质一直在申请中，未最终取得和落实。期间，格莱珉中国团队曾提出捐赠到至某有限责任公司，但京东认为这种方式存在法律风险，因此没有同意这个方案；同时，当时双方协商捐款将落实于农村小额信贷项目，格莱珉中国也没有解决承接此业务的法律资质。
