新京报快讯(记者李相蓉 李馨 实习生王永贤)9月23日下午14点20分左右，湖南省醴陵市醴陵大道与梧桐路交汇处发生一起三车相撞交通事故。导致1人当场死亡，2人在送往医院过程中抢救无效死亡，23人受伤(其中22人轻伤，1人重伤)。
新京报记者从急救人员处获悉，16名伤者被送往醴陵市中医院，包括1名中年妇女与15名学生，另有七八名伤者被送往湘东医院。
湖南省醴陵市互联网宣传与管理办公室官方微博“醴陵发布”称，事故发生后，醴陵市委、市政府高度重视，主要领导及相关部门负责人已第一时间赶赴现场组织救援，迅速成立事故处理领导小组，启动应急预案。目前，现场搜救工作已基本完成，全部伤员已送往医院救治。死者身份和事故原因正在进一步调查当中。
醴陵市公安局一位工作人员向新京报记者介绍，目前该事故正在处理中，事故原因会在处理结束后进行公布。
