陈小姐认识的这位女子姓闻，闻某自称其母亲是某跨国连锁酒店集团的高层，可低价拿到丰富的旅游资源，因为认识，所以陈小姐相信了闻某的话。不过闻某有一个要求，就是陈小姐需要在朋友圈散发这次旅游资源的广告。广告是关于出国游的优惠福利，以马尔代夫7天6夜的套餐为例，成人每人是16800元，14岁以下的小孩是3200元。套餐包含来回机票，入住高档酒店和龙虾大餐等内容。因为给出的条件非常优惠，陈小姐便提交了钱。而朋友圈里的好友看到广告，因为认识陈小姐的关系，也有不少人参加了这项优惠活动，大家约定好在国庆节期间一起出游。

不过，直到国庆准备出发的时候，陈小姐才发现先前说好的预定飞机和酒店都是假的，她经过查询发现根本没有自己的航班和酒店信息，这才意识到被骗了。而此时，闻某已经不知所踪。陈小姐表示，包括她自己在内的等十八人一共损失了11万多元。

事后，陈小姐报了警。经过统计，有30多户家庭共被骗超过470万元。此外，被骗的户主中，腾讯有几十个人，还有阿里、百度以及华为的一些员工。
