随后，曹某以30-100元不等的价格出卖给下家黄某，由黄某经由自己经营的网店加价出售给游戏玩家。由于曹某掌握了公司的商业秘密，使得针对他制作的反外挂开发特别艰难。同时，因为难以被平台破解，此款外挂在网店里格外“畅销”。仅2015年1月至7月的短短半年时间，两人以销售外挂软件牟利，非法经营数额就高达210余万元。其中，曹某分得170余万元，黄某分得40余万元。
案件移送到检察机关后，检察官审查发现，曹某是软件高级工程师，而黄某则是某高校机械工程及自动化专业大四学生。考虑到两名嫌疑人系高科技人才，在相关领域内具有特长，且认罪悔罪态度较好，对被害公司进行了赔偿，得到了被害公司的谅解，因此，检察官最终决定对两名嫌疑人变更强制措施为取保候审。
最终，嘉定区人民检察院以侵犯著作权罪，对曹某、黄某提起公诉。法院判处曹某有期徒刑二年十个月，缓刑两年十个月，并处罚金人民币八万元；法院判处黄某有期徒刑二年，缓刑二年，并处罚金人民币二万元。
