此外，据《南方周末》报道，中国国产首艘航母可能采取的改进措施主要包括：一是舰岛可能会在设计上有一定改动，提高隐身性能，调整舰岛上的雷达电子设备布局，尺寸上可能会有所缩小，从而在一定程上增加飞行甲板面积；

第二次回应：2016年3月目前该舰正处于建造过程当中
今年3月31日中国国防部例行记者会上，有记者提到，最近有网络流传的照片显示，中国首艘中国国产航母的主舰体部分已经接近完工，离下水的日子不远了。

发言人吴谦笑着回应称，“我可以授权告诉你的是，首艘中国国产航母的建造进展顺利，正在按计划推进。关于你提到的‘高颜值’，我认为只说对了一半，我们这艘中国国产航母‘既有外在颜值，更有内在气质’。”
据新华社报道，从公开报道来看，首艘中中国国产航母被称为001A型航母，标准排水量在55000吨，满载排水量在67000吨左右，这说明这艘中国国产航母和辽宁号差异不会很大。
“辽宁号航母与中国国产航母最大的区别在于两者定位属性不同。”海军军事专家李杰认为，辽宁号航母主要担任科研和训练任务，必要时可具备作战功能。而新的中国国产航母从定位上来讲已经发生了质的变化，将来主要为执行新的作战任务服务，特别是中远海海上作战的需要。
海军作战与装备专家王云飞认为，与辽宁舰相比，建造中的新航母最主要的进步有三个方面，一是有更大的机库容量，因为瓦良格舰原设计有舰空导弹，占用部分机库空间，而新航母无此设计；二是机电系统适配性要更好，辽宁舰机电系统有的是用原设备，有的是后加装的，在改装设计时各项战术技术指标必须有取有舍，而中国国产航母从一开始就进行整体设计，能发挥现有设备的最大效能；三是信息电子系统，比如航管系统、战场感知系统等，中国国产航母又有了最新发展。

2015年，美国海军首次使用电磁弹射，将一辆重达36吨的有轮车辆模拟舰载机，以时速250公里的速度驶过长达90米的弹射轨道，这标志着电磁弹射设计基本可以使用。
李杰表示，现代化建造航母跟传统航母建造一个明显的区别，就是采用了分段式建造的手法，即先分段建造再整合组装。而此次舰艏的安装，主要是针对滑跃式飞行甲板的拼接。因此，这也意味着要把整个航母的整个飞行甲板贯通起来并拼接完成。

未来“001A型”航母将展开动力组安装工作，完成后船坞将会注水，届时大连造船厂势必会举行一个盛大下水仪式庆贺。但实际上按照美国建造经验，航母接下来进行的下水舾装过程将占建造总时间的50%以上。
报道强调，“如果说到目前为止的建造工作都是为航母‘搭建骨架’，那么“001A型”还要经过一个同样漫长的组装过程来‘填充血肉’。”航母组装的具体工作主要是进行管路和电气设备的铺装，近年来“预舾装”是造船工程管理领域的一种常用技术，预计“001A型”航母也会通过预舾装项目设计优化整体建造过程。而所谓的“预舾装”就是某些通过对工程优化设计、同时可以在船台同步进行的舾装工作，提前到船台进行，将能节省相当高的人工费用及时间。
