自10月17日乘神舟十一号飞船自酒泉卫星发射中心升空后，景海鹏和陈冬共在天宫二号空间实验室工作生活30天，创造了中国航天员太空驻留时间的新纪录。
此次担任指令长的景海鹏，是一名已工作18年的“少将航天员”，而三次进入太空之后，他也成为了中国飞得次数最多、时间最久、高度最高的航天员。
