单霁翔介绍说，故宫的整体古建筑保护修缮是巨大且长期的工程，目前修复工作进入了最核心的区域，如养心殿、乾隆花园、大高玄殿、城墙等。
记者了解到，2015年12月，东南大学建筑学院陈薇教授团队参与了养心殿“大修”。陈薇说，“南京的故宫和北京的故宫有千丝万缕的联系，将来的合作不仅仅是在建筑学层面，可能会扩展到南北文化的交融的宽广领域。”
