《太平门消失的1300人》记录了松冈环收集南京大屠杀中国和日本双方证言的艰辛过程。不少侵华日军最初面对镜头尽是诡辩之辞，“没见过屠杀”“中国夸大了屠杀的规 模”是他们常用的“台词”。在松冈环坚持不懈的努力下，几位侵华日军终于面对镜头承认了在南京太平门惨案中的屠杀细节：日军逼迫被抓的中国人在埋着地雷的路上走，将这些人活活炸死；一些日本士兵从城墙上往中国人身上倒汽油后残忍地点火将其烧死；日军用刺刀直接刺死无辜市民……纪录片全长75分钟，通过施暴 者和幸存者双方证词为南京大屠杀史实提供佐证。证言的一致性再次证明侵华日军在南京犯下滔天罪行。一位不愿透露姓名的日本观众对本报记者说，听完证言实在 太震惊了，原来他们在中国实施过如此惨无人道的战争暴行。
