围堰建成
将迎来首次考古发掘
挖掘机来来往往，工程车进进出出。一个月的时间，岷江河道内，3条约8米宽的围堰垒土而起，将河中一片数千平方米的区域与江水分离，水落石出，河床上鹅卵石清晰可见。河堤上的通告和公告显示，国家文物局水下文化遗产保护中心和四川省文物考古研究院联合组建的考古队将在此区域作业，首度发掘江口沉银遗址。

围堰施工队是11月25日进场的，为防止破坏遗址现场，都是到岷江对岸河堤外取土，再转运数公里，从对岸建好一条便道通向发掘区，以保证划定的核心区域不受到影响。目前，围堰已经完成，张献忠沉银中心区域之一将迎来首次考古发掘，这也是四川省文物考古研究院的首次水下考古发掘。
文保部门相关人士之前解释，传统的水下考古，比如说（海里或江河里的）沉船，考古队会围绕船体展开。江口沉银遗址即便有船，也早就毁了，船上的物品散落四处，夹杂在河床砂石中。所以要利用围堰，把水排干了再发掘。国家文物局水下文化遗产保护中心的相关人员也赞同此观点。

所有作业都在监控中
距离围堰还有几百米远，临江的路边被护栏遮挡住，摄像头也多了起来，从道路通往围堰的两条路口均有警方人员把守，如果没有佩戴相关部门制作的证件，任何人员一律不准入内。所有作业，都在围堰上的监控系统下进行。
此次考古发掘区域仅有2000平方米左右，但考虑到排水等因素，围堰内区域实际面积已有近万平方米。工地上的工人也收到了一道“死命令”：一律不准下到围堰内的区域，一旦发现，马上扣3天工资；如违法，马上移交警方。

发掘时间

虽然此次考古发掘名气足够响亮，但彭山区公安、文物等部门只表示，明年1月初将在彭山召开通报会介绍。
成都商报记者了解到，考古队专家已陆续进场。此次考古发掘项目的领队之一、国家文物局水下文化遗产保护中心副研究员周春水表示，这是四川首次水下考古发掘。“这是首次对张献忠沉银区域进行考古发掘，以前的，只能叫挖宝。”
周春水说，此次考古发掘，利用江口镇政府外的公路三面围堰，虽然围堰的面积较大，但发掘面积约在2000平方米左右。如果进展顺利，到2017年4月30日之前，在发掘完批复的2000平方米区域后，将根据情况向下游继续发掘。
为什么把发掘时间截止为2017年4月30日呢？周春水说，因为项目是按照3个月来制定计划的，发掘工作从2017年1月陆续展开，到4月30日，发掘2000平方米是比较合理的工作量。到5月份，水涨起来了，所以工作时间点只能到4月底。如果有需要再发掘，估计只有到2017年底了。
周春水介绍，最理想的是，从头到尾一下将整个遗址发掘完。到明年1、2月份，考古队将根据发掘的情况做判断。毕竟现在东西全部埋在水下，情况不是太了解，需要综合这个遗址以前的破坏情况等来决定。
在周春水看来，整个方案中，围堰的难度不大，最大的难度在考古的性质和找出江口沉银遗址的准确位置。
“项目分布范围很广，从现在的位置到岷江大桥的位置，都算是，现在主要发掘的是核心区域。”周春水称。

掘出文物？
无人回应村民说法
12月26日，围堰内，江口沉银遗址的河床已全部裸露在外，站在岸边的高处，虽然能一览无遗，但仅能发现一些鹅卵石。不过，多位村民告诉成都商报记者，听说前几天，考古人员在江底发掘出了一些文物。“有金子，有银锭，听说巴适得很。”
对此，现场考古、施工等人员只字不提。彭山区公安、文物部门也拒绝回应村民的说法。
