大洋网讯 湛江爱鸟协会成员与资深鸟友董文晓近日前往广东雷州市雷高镇等地进行勺嘴鹬越冬调查时发现，在数千只红嘴鸥、红嘴巨鸥的混群中，竟有神话之鸟——中华凤头燕鸥的踪影。
中华凤头燕鸥，又称黑嘴端凤头燕鸥，是世界极危鸟种，全球现存数量不超过100只。因其数量极少，踪迹神秘，有“神话之鸟”之称。它在1861年首次被发现，但随后记录数量极少，1937年后神秘消失63年，以至于在2000年以前它被科学界普遍认为已经灭绝，直至2000年在福建沿海被重新发现。
近年来，为拯救这一极度濒危的物种，中外专家联合进行了招引与监测项目，当前，中华凤头燕鸥已在浙江韭山列岛、五峙山列岛、福建马祖列岛等地建立了相对稳定的繁殖群。如今“神话之鸟”在雷州湾出现，再次佐证了雷州半岛沿海滩涂是候鸟越冬非常重要的区域！
据介绍，除了中华凤头燕鸥，本次调查还发现了同属世界极危鸟类勺嘴鹬20余只，易危鸟类黑嘴鸥、遗鸥、大滨鹬、小鸥等。12月24日，湛江市爱鸟协会成员许成等记录到世界濒危鸟类黑脸琵鹭4只。
