2017, "the Unicorn" concept will become obsolete-the company Unicorn-IT information

Every start-up company wants to become "the Unicorn" (that is, valued at US $1 billion), but when the 2016 years come to an end, the term began to fade.

A few years ago, business or when it is not so hot like today, only one or two start-up companies in the market can be called "Unicorn" in the name. But today, when the market began when Sturm und drang, Unicorn has become less rare.

According to statistics from CB Insights, the current global Unicorn enterprises has reached as much as 183. "The Unicorn" rare meaning of the term has ceased to exist.

This situation points out some of the current potential, that venture capitalists are moving forward. Increasingly large sums of money from non-traditional investors, the money flowing into start-ups, made one after another of the Unicorn. And in order to avoid the difficulties of listing and privatization of these companies also will be kept.

But, in fact, today, the meaning of the word Unicorn more gathered at the market level. Valued at $1 billion, explains to some extent by a start-up company's success, so all companies want to be part of. People often see that startups will vigorously promote their valuations in their own press release, although the valuation itself is difficult to define.

However, in 2016 became Unicorn's passion has begun to fade.

According to CB Insights, sharp decline in 2016 new Unicorn. In 2014, the market appeared on 23 new Unicorn; by 2015, this number is 40. But in 2016, on the market just 12 new Unicorn.

And in some ways, this situation occurs because the number of large investments began to decline. In 2015, the market for more than $100 million in financing, 77, but in 2016, the number of such investment with only 41. Seems to be venture capitalists for startup companies desire to deal or no deal has begun to fade, more often, they are more willing to look for exit channel.

The short term, by the year 2017, this trend will continue. From the Israel investment company Zirra 85 authorized and available public databases for start-ups indicators such as income, expenditures, investment calculation. Compared with the forecast made by the Wall Street Journal, Zirra says, the current venture capital market ranked in the top 26.5% of the Unicorn company is overvalued, which even some well-known big companies:

Millet--Zirra valuation: $32.4 billion, the Wall Street Journal valued at $46 billion;

Airbnb--Zirra valuation: $13.8 billion, the Wall Street Journal valued at 30 billion dollars;

WeWork--Zirra valuation: $9.1 billion, the Wall Street Journal valued at 16.9 billion dollars;

Space X--Zirra valuation: $8.2 billion, the Wall Street Journal valued at $12 billion;

Dropbox--Zirra valuation: $4.8 billion, the Wall Street Journal valued at US $10 billion;

Pinterest--Zirra valuation: $4.3 billion, the Wall Street Journal valued at $11 billion;

If the forecast is accurate, then Zirra, the impasse in the overvaluation of the company will: If you want to do IPO listed or were acquired, their current valuations for; but if you want to win a round of money, then they have to accept cheap financing, which will do harm to their reputation in the market.

True, in 2016, the downturn in the capital markets has left many entrepreneurs have learned a lesson: the concept of Unicorn is not as good as a thought, while by the year 2017, those who overestimate their companies may have more trouble.

小米——Zirra估值:324亿美元,《华尔街日报》估值460亿美元;

Airbnb——Zirra估值:138亿美元,《华尔街日报》估值300亿美元;

WeWork——Zirra估值:91亿美元,《华尔街日报》估值169亿美元;

Space X——Zirra估值:82亿美元,《华尔街日报》估值120亿美元;

Dropbox——Zirra估值:48亿美元,《华尔街日报》估值100亿美元;

Pinterest——Zirra估值:43亿美元,《华尔街日报》估值110亿美元;
