  据中国探月工程总设计师吴伟仁介绍,嫦娥三号接近月球后,首先要进行近月制动,也就是俗称的“刹车”,就像开汽车一样要刹车,要刹得住。这样才能被月球引力场捕获,使嫦娥三号成为真正绕月飞行的卫星。与嫦娥一号、二号相比,嫦娥三号的近月刹车有所不同。首先,嫦娥三号使用的是新研制的一种变推力发动机来刹车;其次,嫦娥三号一次性地把环月探测设计成一个100×100千米的圆轨道,这里面还是有难度的。过去嫦娥一号是先变成椭圆轨道,再变轨进入圆轨道。而这次嫦娥三号因为能源受到限制,特别是推进剂受到限制,因此设计了这种环月圆轨道飞行方案。

  从今天开始,嫦娥三号将在环月圆轨道运行4天,后于12月10日再次变轨,进入100×15千米的椭圆轨道。再运行4天后,于12月14日在月表软着陆。


  记者昨天从国防科工局获悉,由于嫦娥三号探测器飞行状态良好,原定于昨天进行的第三次中途修正被取消。北京航天飞行控制中心分别于12月2日和3日顺利完成第一次、第二次中途修正,第二次中途修正还对首次使用的7500牛发动机进行了精准标定。鉴于发射嫦娥三号的长三乙运载火箭入轨精度较高,前两次中途修正也非常精准,可以满足近月制动和后续轨道控制的要求,同时,嫦娥三号飞行控制方案具有较好的适应性,经研究决定,不再进行第三次中途修正。
