中国移动已正式提供4G服务，年底前，在北京、杭州、广州、深圳、青岛、南京、宁波、厦门、上海、天津、沈阳、成都、福州等城市将陆续开通4G服务，客户不需换号，不需登记，需换4G卡，换4G手机。如需办理，请在购买4G手机后，携带原手机SIM卡到指定营业厅更换4G卡，手机号码不变。
中国联通和中国电信尚未开展4G业务。
4G来了，是不是马上就可以鸟枪换炮了
3G发牌后，我们都清楚，3G的信号并不是到处都有，所以，4G也会是一样，信号不会马上就无处不在。
目前，中国移动仅向北京、杭州、广州、深圳、青岛、南京、宁波、厦门、上海、天津、沈阳、成都、福州等城市的用户提供4G服务；明年年中，预计100个城市将具备4G商用条件；至明年年底，超过340个城市的用户可享受到中国移动的4G服务。
现阶段，3G和4G并存是很普遍的现象。
为什么中国联通和中国电信还没有4G
移动在3G时代落后于联通和电信，然后4G的风向已经出来，所以大手笔提前布局4G，今天开始收果子了。
4G牌照的发放给中国移动弥补3G弱势的机会——移动在试验网和试商用城市的建设上都明显比中国联通和中国电信要快。事实上，中国移动今年总共投资417亿元，建设约有20万个TD-LTE基站，并计划将TD-LTE的覆盖城市扩展到300个以上。所以，中国移动已率先在多地开卖4G手机，推出4G套餐。
联通和电信在最近两三年内在3G网络上进行了大量的投资，因此并没有太大的动力进行4G网络。当然这个窗口期不会维持很久。联通和电信也不会坐等着被落下。
