According to the Washington Post reported that the FBI is working with Google and Yahoo, by malicious software in the United States create more terror incidents to track terrorists ' Mo.

在邮件、视频和互联网电话追踪相继失败后，FBI决定采用恶意软件追踪该恐怖分子的行踪。据报道，FBI黑客精英团队研发出一款恶意软件，只要Mo通过登陆雅虎邮箱，该恶意软件就会自动植入，借此收集恐怖分子的网站访问记录等信息。
报道还指出在此之前，FBI曾经向谷歌申请并获得权限发现Mo通过Google Voice拨打过恐吓电话。不过由于恐怖分子使用了虚拟代理，FBI没有获得其真实位置信息。
报道还透露，FBI曾经向法院申请激活Mo的摄像头对其进行监控，但是该请求被法官拒绝。
