据介绍，该公租房小区位于平房桥东侧，总占地面积26.9公顷，整个项目分三期建成。一期工程由11栋住宅楼组成，共约3200套住房，现已开工。按照施工进度，一期工程预计2015年封顶，2016年完全交付使用。建成后的11栋住宅楼主要为东部地区工薪阶层单身及成家初期人员提供房屋过渡服务。每套房屋将配备生活必备的床、橱柜、电视、冰箱、空调等家具电器，市民拎包即可入住。
月租金最高省近2000元
目前平房桥附近一居室的租金在3000元左右。这批公租房户型30至60平方米，每平方米月租金在38元至42元之间，即使按照最高的42元租金标准和其较大的60平米户型来计算，每个月的租金为2520元，比目前的平房桥一居室市场租金便宜近500元。
而按照最低租金标准38元和最小户型30平米来计算，每个月的租金为1140元，比目前的平房桥一居室市场租金便宜近2000元。
收益将分配给当地农民
与本市在建的众多公租房不同，这个全市最大的公租房项目并非由北京市、朝阳区两级政府拨款，而是由朝阳区平房乡集体自筹资金兴建，房屋产权归乡集体所有。项目建成后，将被市住房保障办公室趸租，定期支付房屋租金给乡集体经济组织，最终将会以生活补贴或其他福利的形式发放到当地农民手中。
