　　国家深海基地管理中心主任刘峰说，第二批潜航员学员选拔是我国首次面向全国公开选拔的潜航员学员。同时，本次选拔产生了我国首批两名女性潜航员学员，对我国载人深潜事业发展具有重大意义，也将为我国建设形成一支专业结构科学、学历层次合理、年龄与性别比例适当的载人潜水器潜航员队伍打下坚实基础。

　　刘峰介绍，第一批潜航员培训是处于“蛟龙”号研发、海试阶段，是随着“蛟龙”号成长起来的。而现在“蛟龙”号已转入实验性应用阶段，性能稳定，同时在操作上也形成了规范的作业规程。在此情况下开展的第二批潜航员学员培训无疑会更加系统、科学、合理、高效。
