据悉，此次火灾过火面积约1000平方米。接警后，深圳消防立即出动17辆消防车前往扑救，于1时40分到达现场，1时57分在火场搜救出第一名被困者。期间，深圳消防支队共投入8个中队、29台消防车、145名消防员参与现场灭火救援。
深圳市有关官员目前正在光明新区火灾现场指挥善后处置工作。
目前，除了被封锁的过火区域，荣健农批市场其它摊档仍在正常经营。官方尚未公布起火原因。
光明新区是深圳的一个功能拓展区和开发区。位于深圳市西北部，东至观澜、西接松岗、南抵石岩，北与东莞市接壤，总面积156.1平方公里，辖内有公明和光明两个街道，人口约80万，由宝安区划出。
光明街道是深圳市归侨侨眷最为集中的地区，有7000多人，其中大部分是1978年至1979年从越南回国的归侨，小部分是上世纪30年代至60年代从马来西亚、新加坡、印尼、缅甸回国的归侨。
