光明新区公明街道根竹园荣健农批市场发生重大火灾事故
2013年12月11日凌晨1点30分接报，光明新区公明办事处根竹园社区荣健农批市场发生重大火灾事故，过火面积约1000平方米。市公安消防支队接报后立即赶到现场开展救援，共调集8个消防中队29台消防车145名消防官兵，火灾于凌晨3：00被扑灭。截止11日10:30，事故造成16人死亡，5人受伤，伤者已及时送医院进行救治，目前生命体征稳定。
事故发生后，在外出差的省委常委、市委书记王荣，市长许勤分别作出指示，要求全力救治伤员，妥善做好善后工作，尽快查明事故原因；同时要求各级各部门吸取教训、举一反三，进一步强化做好消防安全大检查。
广东省副省长李春生、省政府副秘书长林英、省安监局局长黄晗率领省安监等部门工作人员赶赴现场，组织事故调查处置工作。市委常委、常务副市长吕锐锋，市委常委、公安局长李铭，副市长张文在第一时间赶赴现场，指挥救援处置工作，并在根竹园社区召开现场工作会，听取新区和相关部门现场处置情况，并就下一步事故处置工作具体安排：一是积极配合上级部门开展事故调查工作，市政府由张文副市长负责，市公安局、安委办和光明新区等部门和单位参加；二是全力做好事故善后工作，安抚好死伤者家属，做好受伤人员救治；三是在全市范围内迅速开展安全生产大检查，结合当前正在开展的百日安全检查工作，以12·11事故为反面典型，全市各级各部门加强警示教育，增强责任感，深刻吸取事故教训；对存在“三合一”现象的农批市场、水果市场、小档口、小作坊等场所进行重点、全面、彻底的排查和整治，避免再次发生类似事故，确保人民群众生命财产安全。
