此次事件再次引起了外界对苹果代工厂用工环境、工作强度的关注和质疑。对此,苹果方面表示,《Apple供应商行为准则》将每周工作时间限定在60小时以内(特殊情况除外),而且所有加班必须是自愿的。和硕则表示,这4名员工在法定一天8小时的工作时间外,都有加班,有的在周末,有的在晚上,工厂曾查询他们的月工作时数,都在和苹果约定的规范时间之内。

另一家苹果代工厂富士康的用工环境也一直饱受质疑。前晚,受苹果委托对富士康用工环境进行调查的美国公平劳动协会(FLA)发布报告称,尽管富士康已经解决了FLA提出的360个问题中的99%,如改善安全条件、增加工会会员人数等,但在工人工时方面还是超出了中国劳动法的规定,主要原因是劳动力资源短缺。
