据介绍，这是中国佛教界首次在尼泊尔传授三坛大戒，意在促进中尼两国佛教界和人民之间的友好交流；本月23日，一场盛大斋僧法会将会在该国蓝毗尼圣园中华寺举行，拟邀各国高僧诵经祈福、云集应供，增进各国僧俗友谊、祈愿世界和平。
戒会期间，来自中国各地的120名受戒弟子，将集中学习各种礼仪、戒堂唱念、得戒教育、二十四威仪、比丘戒、梵网经等课程，还将朝圣佛陀诞生地——尼泊尔蓝毗尼圣园及韩国、印度、缅甸、德国等十几个国家在圣园所建寺院。
15日在深圳弘法寺传授沙弥戒时，中国佛教协会驻会副会长学诚法师表示，戒律弘传得力与否，这是关系到佛教兴衰存亡的头等大事。他说，经过二十多年的规范传戒实践，汉传佛教僧尼队伍得到壮大，素质得到提高，佛教自身建设得到加强；为中国佛教走出国门、弘传中华文化、利益世界人民打下了良好基础。
据了解，中国佛教协会1996年审议了《全国汉传佛教寺院传授三坛大戒管理办法》、《全国汉传佛教实行度牒僧籍制度的办法》草案，2000年正式颁布实施。相关管理办法要求中国各地统一考核、统一审批、统一戒牒、戒会仪式传承规范、开展戒期教育等。
尼泊尔蓝毗尼也被称为佛祖的故乡，是全世界最重要的佛教朝圣地，是佛陀生前曾提出他涅槃之后供弟子常思四个地点之一，1997年被列入世界文化遗产名录。(完)
