据了解，此次洪水造成万宁全市12个乡镇不同程度受灾，受灾人口15万人，共有158个村庄（连队）被洪水围困，安全转移人口8万人，尚未接到人员伤亡的报告。全市遭受重大经济损失，据初步统计，全市经济损失约15亿元，其中，房屋受损4500万元，主要路基桥涵及乡村道路等交通设施受损38处经济损失达9000万元，农作物受灾面积13万亩经济损失4.5亿元；海洋渔业经济1.7万亩6.8亿元。目前，万城地区的邮电新村到万都、中央坡北坡农场路口、第二市场、市人民医院、纵一路、迎宾路，大茂新市场及东澳市墟和风豪桥等地方出现严重积水，交通受阻，周边村庄一片汪洋。
灾情发生后，在省委省政府的指导下、省三防指挥部部署下，万宁市各级领导干部迅速行动，防范应对特大暴雨及抢险救灾。四套领导班子成员14日晚连夜奔赴受灾严重镇、村，全市119个市直机关单位奔赴联系点，靠前指导救灾工作。各水库安排专人值守，确保水库安全度汛，目前全市50多个水库全部安全度汛。并已经调集预备役及联防队员，随时投入防汛抗险。目前，公安、边防、消防武警等干警400多名，对各积水路口设置警戒线、安全堆和引导交通，组织6艘冲锋舟、3辆拖救车进行车辆救助，并安排巡逻车在市区及省道和国道进行引导交通。

——组织医疗卫生队伍，开展灾区卫生防疫、医疗救护和水源水质化验工作。该市召开灾后防病工作紧急会议，启动疫情“日”报告和“零”报告制度，成立专门的防疫队伍，开展灾后防病、灾民医疗救治、受淹村庄饮用水卫生及安置点环境卫生消毒、疫情处置等工作，确保大灾后无大疫。
——恢复农业生产，指导灾民搞好抢种补种等灾后生产恢复，从资金、技术、种籽、种苗、肥料等方面提供支持。
——加强对水围困村庄的房屋、校舍等检查工作，对受淹学校特别是农村、山区学校的校舍及公共设施进行安全鉴定检查，对排查出的危房，及时修复或拆除消除隐患。
——做好灾区治安及交通管制工作，强化灾区交通疏导及治安管理，加强昼夜巡逻值守，维护灾区社会秩序。
